Sprint follows T-Mobile’s lead, wants $350 for HTC Touch Pro2

Posted under Editorials on Monday, 31 August 2009 by admin

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, Sprint, Windows Mobile, EV-DO, CDMA We figured the suits over at T-Mobile USA were on some of that good stuff when they slapped an almost comical $350 (on contract) price tag on HTC’s Touch Pro2, but evidently said “stuff” has made its way into the halls of Overland Park as well. After months of watching evidence mount, Sprint has finally come clean and admitted that HTC’s EV-DO Rev. A-equipped superphone is coming to its network, and with it will come access to Sprint TV as well as NFL Mobile Live and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile apps.

Having just recently been spotted riding the FCC approval express , it comes as no surprise that Sprint’s version of HTC’s Hero will soon be on its way to Android-fiending girls and boys across these United States. Now, according to Engadget , it sounds like “soon” may be as little as a couple weeks as Best Buy is expected to begin accepting $50 deposits for the CDMA-flavored Hero beginning on September 13

Possible Palm Pre, Eos, Storm 2, and more revealed in Verizon database

Posted under Editorials on Friday, 28 August 2009 by jack

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, Palm, Samsung, Verizon Wireless Well would you look at those. Six snaps from Verizon’s internal inventory database showing the BlackBerry Storm 2, Touch Pro 2, Omnia II, the Samsung Convoy and a pair of previously unseen Palm devices tagged with “P101″ and “P121″ monikers. It’s just a guess, but we, like PhoneArena , think there’s a very good chance that these are the Pre (already shipping on Sprint as model P100 according to the FCC) and its little Eos cousin, respectively.

Confirmed: HTC Qilin uses OMAP3 — out of necessity

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, China Mobile HTC’s got a super-tight relationship with Qualcomm, a relationship that they’ve gone to the mat to defend on many occasions — most recently with the Hero, which uses essentially the same 528MHz MSM7201a chipset as pretty much every other notable HTC in recent memory. Thing is, this is 2009 and there now are better, faster processors out there, even within the ARM11 family; take TI’s OMAP3, for example, which very effectively powers some of the most media-centric, UI eye candy-heavy devices on the market

China Mobile announces HTC ‘Qilin’ as Dopod T8388

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, Windows Mobile China Mobile has a vested interest in making sure TD-SCDMA succeeds seeing how it’s the only of China’s big three carriers to be rolling it out — and it’s not exactly sharing the technology with carriers around the globe — but money talks, and a portion of the 47 million yuan in subsidies being doled out to advance the standard have gone to making sure this little gem sees the light of day.

HTC Mega materializes again, brings along spec list

Posted under Editorials on Monday, 24 August 2009 by jack

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, Windows Mobile, GSM, CDMA HTC’s Mega certainly isn’t the most exciting of the company’s upcoming products to leak lately, but it’s looking likely that it’ll have one of the nicer price tags on it for a Window Mobile 6.5 device.

Storm 2, Motorola Sholes, Nokia Twist dated for Verizon, according to leaked doc

Posted under Editorials on Sunday, 23 August 2009 by jack

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, LG, Nokia, RIM, Samsung, Verizon Wireless We’ve heard about a good number of these phones were bound for Verizon Wireless already, but if this leaked doc via Boy Genius Report is to be believed, we now have a much better idea when they should be within reach of consumer hands. First up is Samsung Rogue for sometime this month (we previously heard today, but that’s looking very doubtful at this point) for an estimated $370 subsidized. Next on the calendar is the “female centric” Nokia Twist 7705 in late September for $230, which more likely than not is the swiveling device we’ve seen on two prior occasions.

HTC beats Microsoft to the punch, rolls out a different kind of ‘project pink’ to the Hero

Posted under Editorials on Saturday, 22 August 2009 by jack

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, Android In its brief three-model run so far, HTC’s already built a storied history of odd color options for its Android phones: brown on the G1, “merlot” on the myTouch 3G, and now, a sublime pink for the Hero that we’re finally seeing in the wild. Love it or hate it, Android fans, be real with yourselves: if it was somehow the only Hero you had access to, you’d take it in a heartbeat. [Via MobileTechWorld, thanks WHOIS] HTC beats Microsoft to the punch, rolls out a different kind of ‘project pink’ to the Hero originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Fri, 21 Aug 2009 06:12:00 EST.

Video: HTC Click previewed - Runs Donut, lacks Sense

Posted under Editorials on Friday, 21 August 2009 by jack

I do believe this is a first: not only has someone at Vietnamese mobile site Tinh Té managed to get their hands on an HTC Click before it’s even official, but it looks like they’ve had it for long enough to laser etch a bunch of crazy crap onto the back. Fortunately, they’re not just sitting around basking in the exclusive warmth of their unreleased phone - they were nice enough to give the Click a 5-minute video rundown. As expected , it continues to look as if the HTC Click won’t do too much damage to your wallet
